the butterfly quilt!!

So we have a brand new pattern to chat about. I absolutely love this pattern, but it honestly tested me designing it. I must have sketched it out at least 10 times, getting the outline right, then the little quilt blocks that sit inside the wings. But…. I got there.

Now, this one has been waiting patiently in the wings (get it??) since last November.

The Butterfly Quilt Pattern

The butterfly measures 68” across and 60” down. I would say that it is perfect for the confident intermediate quilter - but if you are a super confident beginner then have a go. It is made up of all 2.5” unfinished squares and half square triangles.

The instructions are complete with pattern illustrations, fabric requirements, cutting instructions and sewing instructions.

There is a lovely diagram on how to make hst’s and they are really easy to make.

On each of my patterns there are lovely little doodles, and on this one you will see a butterfly doodling about from page to page.

You will see that in the wings are some conventional quilt blocks. There are flying geese, the friendship star, the shoo fly, the pinwheel, and many more. These are all made up with my row by row instructions and are easy to follow.

Here are the fabric requirements. You can make this in solids, blenders or it would look amazing with some Kaffe fabrics.

I have used the Makower Spray time range, with a solid white background.

If you make a version of the Butterfly Quilt, then please do send me pics, I can then add them to the Lookbook and others can gain inspiration from your makes.

You can also have a look at the pattern testers butterflies.

Happy quilting.
