the campfire collection

When I first started designing my own quilts in my graph book, I was drawn to the Aztec designs. Loving the symmetry and simplicity of them. I then started designing more pictorial style quilts, and if you have been following me for a while, you know I love the insects and animal quilts.

At the end of last year I decided I wanted to take my designs in just a slightly different direction. I absolutely love the format of my patterns, the layout of them and the simple row by row designs. I wanted to create less pictorial designs for 2024 and concentrate on quilt patterns for the beginner quilter just starting out, and the confident quilter that can pick up one of my patterns using simple techniques.

And here we have the Campfire Collection, a trio of quilts, brand new for 2024.

The Campfire Collection is based on my love for Scotland. If you have never been to Scotland, it is truly a magical place, with amazing scenery around every corner. These quilts are all named after some of my favourite places to camp in Scotland. The Carradale - one of the most beautiful places on the Mull of Kintyre, nestled in the bay overlooking the Isle of Arran. In 2022 we discovered Carradale and went to camp there for a couple of nights, we ended up staying for 10 nights. It was just a stunning place and we didn’t want to leave.

Have you heard of Loch Lomond? It is the largest lake in Great Britain and contains 30 islands within it. Cashel is on the shores of Loch Lomond, and is my favourite stop off campsite for on the way home. It is nestled in the trees, with access right onto the loch beach. I can’t remember how many times we have been there, so it seemed fitting that I named the quilt below the Cashel Quilt Pattern.

And of course we can’t forget Glencoe on the west coast of Scotland. Glencoe sit’s at the end of Loch Leven, which is a saltwater loch. It is surrounded by stunning mountains and scenery, and I remember an evening spent by the loch just admiring our surroundings and feeling very fortunate.

The Glencoe Quilt Pattern

The Glencoe Quilt Pattern is the simplest of the Campfire Collection. It has larger squares of 5.5 inches, and is so quick and easy to stitch up. If you prep your cutting and make your half square triangles beforehand you can stitch this up easily in an afternoon.

You can’t beat sitting in the outdoors, in beautiful Scotland wrapped up in a cosy quilt.

I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I do. There are so many possibilities for different colourways, and I can’t wait to see what you make.

Happy quilting, and don’t forget to send me your pictures of your makes and I can add them to the Lookbook
