The mini pink giraffe

Have you seen the mini pink giraffe?

I loved making this quilt, it was so much fun to make using non traditional giraffe colours. I made this mini quilt using Makower’s Linen Texture range of fabrics.

This little fella measures 21” x 30”.

The fabrics that I used here are:-

Baby Blue = 1 metre

Lime = 1/4 metre

Petal = 1 metre including backing

Lilac = 1/4 metre

Azalea = 1/4 metre

Aubergine = 1/4 metre including binding

I made this using Vlieseline’s quilters grid, which definitely helped me with my accuracy on such smaller squares.

If you want to make a mini giraffe, the pattern will need to be amended. Each square will need to be cut to 1.5 inches, and the squares for the half square triangles (hst’s) will need to be cut to 2 3/8 inches prior to make up the hst’s. You can then follow the HST diagram in the pattern, but remember to trim each piece to 1.5 inches.

Once you have everything cut, you can then make the quilt as per the sewing instructions in the pattern.

The more traditional colours for the griaffe.

If you wanted to make the giraffe in the more traditional colours, again I have used Makower’s Linen Texture here, and below are the fabric requirements.

Background = 1 metre

Green = ¼  metre

Cream = ¼ metre

Light Brown = ¼  metre

Mid Brown  = 1/8 metre

Dark Brown = 2 1/2 inch strip

If you do make the mini version of the giraffe, then please do send me a picture, I love to see all of your makes and I can add it to the Lookbook, where other quilters find lots of inspiration.

Happy quilting.
